Additional Information:

Southeast Alaska Truth in Recruiting is a project of Veterans for Peace Chapter 100, Juneau, Alaska. A standing committee of the chapter guides its work. We are located in Juneau Alaska and have attempted to do some outreach to the other communities of the region. We are in communication with people in Haines, Ketchikan, and Sitka, as well as Anchorage, Fairbanks and Homer, Alaska.

We have been successful in getting changes to the Juneau School District Student Records Rules and Regulations regarding the NCLB Opt-Out to improve student/parent notification of rights and changes to how the school district processes requests to opt-out, to allow for selectively opting out of release to the military, with an improved form specifying that any student may make the request directly. We have secured changes to the Visitor Rules and Regulations that limit military recruiters (each branch) to three times a year. SeaTIR has tabled at the college/career fairs and in the past school year during times when recruiters are present in the high school commons. We have posted ads in all city buses for our services. See the poster on the right.
