The mission of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship (BPF), founded in 1978, is to serve as a catalyst for socially engaged Buddhism. Our purpose is to help beings liberate themselves from the suffering that manifests in individuals, relationships, institutions, and social systems. BPF's programs, publications, and practice groups link Buddhist teachings of wisdom and compassion with progressive
social change.

We strive to:

    * Offer a public witness, through our practice, for peace and protection of all beings

    * Raise humanitarian, environmental, and social justice concerns among Buddhist communities

Bring a Buddhist perspective to contemporary peace, environmental, and social justice movements

"Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me!"

Do these lyrics sound familiar? Do you believe them to be true? The Wilmington Peace Meetup Group takes the lyrics to heart by offering members a chance to network and brainstorm how we can work locally to bring about peace, especially in Iraq. Over two-thirds  of the nation believes that the invasion of Iraq by the US was a horrible mistake. Many of us have felt powerless to deter our government in its
violent ways. This Meetup Group offers a first step to reclaiming our power as citizens to work for peace, both at home and in other lands. Add your heart and hands to this important work!

WILMINGTON PEACE MEETUP IS NON-PARTISAN AND NON-DENOMINATIONAL.
