 Additional Info:

Hawaii is sodden with military relationships. Truth 2 Youth, started
in 2005, advocates full disclosure about military enlistment to the
youth of this island, the Big Island. There are 10 public high
schools and we have been able to bring a young veteran to each one to
talk with students. We participate in at least 2 high school and 1
community college career fairs every year. We have active
relationships with teachers and parents, advocating alternatives to
the military. We have also staged three peace-themed events in three
poorly performing high schools which included wide distribution of
counter-recruitment materials to the student body. Currently we are
collaborating with Careers in Peace, a counter-recruitment project of
Maui Peace Action. Our goals are to make the community at large aware
of the encroaching militarization of public schools and repeatedly
reach as many youth as we can throughout the state with relevant
speakers and up-to-date materials.

Your donation to NNOMY works to balance the military's message in our public schools. Our national network of activists go into schools and inform youth considering military service the risks about military service that recruiters leave out.
